Founded by musicians and engineered by John Storyk, (Le) Poisson Rouge occupies the historic Village Gate site. Its segmented layout lets a single evening shift from a seated cabaret to a standing concert to a late-night DJ set. Reviewers consistently describe the space as intimate yet able to hold a medium-sized crowd, with excellent audio quality and seating between bands. One visitor came for a burlesque show and heard from nearby tables that the concerts are also great.
