Description

Designed in 1912 by Emanuel Mische, former horticultural expert for the Olmsted Brothers, the park was planned with distinct sections like Firwood Lake and Rhododendron Hill. Mature stands of redwoods and a giant sequoia provide deep shade, keeping the grounds cool for runners, cyclists, and lawn yoga. Beyond its quieter groves, the space features basketball courts, a playground, a small skate area, and a notably huge dog park. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, it pairs deliberate early-century landscape craft with active neighborhood recreation.
