Description

Founded in 1929 by poet Niwa Yogaku along a mountain stream in the Aoni Valley, the inn omits modern room amenities like power outlets, televisions, and Wi-Fi. As evening arrives, staff deliver lit oil lamps to guest bedrooms.
Four distinct baths anchor the stay, ranging from an indoor bath and an outdoor mixed tub to the all-cypress Kenroku-no-yu and Takimi-no-yu, which overlooks Ryujin Waterfall. Stays include regional dining built around mountain vegetables and freshwater fish.
