Opened in 2009 by Natalia Mendez and Antonio Saavedra after arriving from Oaxaca, this family-run spot anchors the South Bronx with Michelin-acclaimed moles and Oaxacan flavors. Alongside standard dining service, the family runs a mutual aid kitchen that distributes hundreds of daily free meals, operates a lending library, and hosts educational events. The quiet, unmodernized dining room serves dishes like chilaquiles, al pastor tacos, and seasonal vegan squash flower tacos, accompanied by fresh-made horchata.
