La Mesa Depot Museum
4.5 (35)museum
La Mesa’s oldest building is a preserved 1915 depot complete with a vintage locomotive and historic telegraph office.
Description

Standing at Spring Street and La Mesa Boulevard, the depot is the sole surviving San Diego and Cuyamaca Railway Station. Originally constructed in 1894 as Allison Station, the structure was moved across the tracks and expanded in 1915. Outside, visitors can inspect a string of freight cars on the nearby track, while the interior route leads past the ticket and waiting area into a small exhibit area in the baggage room.
