Description

Running 2.5 miles one way, the trail tracks ridgelines parallel to the Mākua Valley fence line across wide-open, sun-exposed ground. Along the path, native Hawaiian and canoe plants like pūkiawe, ʻiliahi aloʻe, and kukui punctuate the ridge. Reaching it involves two distinct options: a route requiring a day-use permit through the Kaʻena Point Space Force Tracking Station, or an extended permit-free hike from the Keālia Trail on the North Shore. The trail can also become overgrown following rain.
