🍛 Comfort in a Compact Room

Angaar keeps things intimate on the Upper West Side, serving comforting Indian classics at 283 Columbus Avenue. It is a neighborhood eatery built around a compact dining space and the pleasure of an unhurried meal. There is plenty of flavor to get into, starting with nutty chicken korma and chicken saag, with hot naan alongside.

The butter chicken is darker than the usual version. Dal and rice offer another comforting option, and the kitchen keeps the plates well spiced. Mango ice cream and lassis give the menu a sweet finish, with enough choice to leave the final decision until after the savory dishes.

The street level dining room holds four tables on the ground floor, while a second level provides additional space. Angaar opens daily from noon to half past ten PM, a window that stretches from an afternoon meal through an evening at the table.
