Description

Established on January 14, 1940 by the Late Reverend Haruko Takahashi to meet the cultural and spiritual needs of Hawaii's early Japanese immigrants, the mission is guided today by presiding head minister Rev. Yasuhiro Yano, Rev. Reiko Yano, and their family. Its ministers underwent spiritual training in Japan, providing guidance across both Japanese and English. Alongside pastoral life, the mission has traditionally pounded mochi since 1992, maintaining longstanding community practices in Wahiawa.
