Climb 1,048 steps up a WWII-era tramway to reach sweeping island views from a volcanic crater summit.
Description

Located in Hawaiʻi Kai on east Oʻahu, the trail follows a route built in the early 1940s by the U.S. Army up to the Puʻu Mai crater summit. It is a demanding ascent characterized by drop-offs and exposure to heights. The path crosses an iconic railway bridge, though hikers can opt for Murphy’s Bypass to skirt around it. On clear days, the crest offers expansive views stretching to Molokai, Maui, and Lānaʻi.
