Sunrise to Sunset; Lighted Courts & Activity Building close at 11 pm
A New Deal-era park building born from relief efforts, still anchoring local community gatherings and court games.
Description

The site traces back to an effort by the Woman’s Club of Kensington in 1924 to establish a park on town-owned lots, leading to an agreement with regional planners in 1930. When construction finally began on March 23, 1934 under the Civil Works Administration, work halted a week later as the relief agency was phased out amid political pressure. Relief workers walked away but left their supplies behind, and the building ultimately opened to the public on October 13, 1934.
