Description

Set within Anacostia Park along the river's eastern bank, Kenilworth Park South is separated from its northern counterpart by Watts Branch. Managed by the National Park Service as an undeveloped natural resource area, the ground received municipal waste and ash between 1942 and 1970 before being capped with soil and revegetated. Today, it remains reserved for passive recreation, with future access shaped by the planned extension of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail.
