Kehila Kedosha Janina Synagogue and Museum

For nearly a century on the Lower East Side, this landmark has kept alive the history of the Romaniotes—a distinct, Greek-speaking Jewish community from western Greece whose traditions differ from Ladino-speaking cultures. Inside the restored interior, the sanctuary leads to a museum housed in the balcony, preserving artifacts and records that trace their heritage back to pre-WWII Greece. Beyond serving as a historical repository, the space remains active with regular religious services and monthly cultural programming dedicated to Sephardic and Romaniote customs.
