Kaya, TBA — live music at Reggies Chicago

Kaya, born Tatsuya Kasei in Tokushima in 1983, first appeared in short-lived visual kei bands Meties and Isola under the name Him (Princess). His career gained momentum after meeting Velvet Eden's keyboardist Hora, with whom he formed the gothic electro-industrial duo Rudolf, named after the 19th-century Austrian mystic. As an openly bisexual, fabulously flamboyant cross-dresser, his success was a wake-up call for Japan's notoriously conservative music industry. Tonight's show blends dark gothic trance with commercial pop melodies.
