Description

Formerly known as Dillingham Airfield, Kawaihāpai Airfield has operated as a military installation since the 1920s, with 272 acres of the 650-acre Dillingham Military Reservation managed by the State of Hawai‘i Department of Transportation under a 50-year lease since 1962. The U.S. Army-owned site centers on a single 9,000-foot runway, utilized for commercial aviation alongside priority military air-land operations and helicopter night-vision training.
