Karate Classes Start at Age Four in Rego Park
Training becomes a family pursuit at this Queens dojo, where parents can join their children on the mats.
🥋 A Family on the Mats
Karate has a family dimension at Breakthrough Martial Arts, a spacious, supportive dojo in Rego Park. The dojo runs programs for kids starting at age four, and parents can sign up to train alongside their children. Instructors Kwame and Robert pair physical technique with character development, with focus and self discipline part of the work for younger students.
The family run school also offers fitness kickboxing and gi jiu jitsu, bringing several ways to train into one Queens space. A recent move expanded the space, adding new mats and a larger pro shop. Some families have stayed for over half a decade, giving the training a longer arc than a single session.
Doors are open Monday and Wednesday from noon to half past eight PM, Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 9 PM, Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM, and Sunday from 9 AM to 4 PM, with Saturday closed.
