Description

Located in Kuliʻouʻou, this permanently protected artesian spring and estuary is cared for by the Maunalua Fishpond Heritage Center as part of broader efforts to restore Hawaiian loko iʻa and springs in Maunalua Bay. The habitat supports rare freshwater limpets, native shrimp, mullet, and flagtail, while the surrounding grounds preserve cultural sites that include a traditional fishpond sluice gate and a fishing stone shrine.
