5.0 (11)attraction
A preserved 16th-century temple in Makaha Valley, complete with restored thatched prayer towers and sacred altars.
Description

Set in Oahu's upper Makaha Valley, the sacred complex was dedicated to Lono, the god of agriculture and fertility. Counted among the Hawaiian Islands' best-preserved heiau sites, it features restored traditional grass houses constructed entirely without metal nails, documenting pre-contact Hawaiian engineering, spirituality, and culture.
