Description

This Hawaiʻi County beach park sits on Kahaluʻu Bay, a sacred wahi pana once known as lands that adorned the chiefs. The sheltered, shallow water features an ancient coral reef system that connects to one of the longest in the Main Hawaiian Islands. It serves as a popular snorkeling site where resident green sea turtles, eels, octopus, and reef fish gather. Volunteer ReefTeachers from The Kohala Center staff an on-site education station to protect the marine life, while commercial surf lessons use the local break.
