Description

Tracing Oʻahu’s far northwestern tip between Waialua and Waiʻanae, the route follows an unpaved old railway bed flanked by craggy cliffs and crashing surf. The path cuts across stark terrain to reach a protected natural area where tide pools dot the rock and wedge-tailed shearwaters nest along the coast. Hikers take on a completely exposed trail with no shade, trading tree cover for hot, dry conditions and rough coastal water along the open shoreline.
