A half-acre greenbelt in Bankers Hill, this 1981 community garden pairs 69 organic plots with a shared fruit orchard.

Description

Set in Bankers Hill just north of downtown, the 20,000-square-foot site ranks as one of San Diego's oldest community gardens. Individual plots have an average size of 126 square feet, set beside a shared 15-tree fruit orchard. Membership requires continuous involvement: gardeners must actively tend their assigned plots year-round, pay dues, and complete volunteer work.
