Junior's earns the cheesecake hype, but the diner is the real reason to go

I came into Junior's for one slice of cheesecake and left two hours later, having eaten backward through half the menu because the griddle caught me on the way in. Slide a fork through the slice and the whole fuss makes sense in one bite, dense and creamy on a soft sponge base that melts instead of crunching against a crust. It has held the same corner of Flatbush and DeKalb since 1950, and three generations of the same family later the slice still tastes the way it always has, which is why people keep coming back.
🍽️ Come hungry, order backward
There's a whole diner behind that dessert case, and the menu is big enough that nobody at the table has to compromise. The plates are enormous, though, so it's easy to get carried away on the savory stuff and end up with no room for the thing you actually came in for. There is no need for a reservation, just show up hungry and leave a little space for a slice at the end.
