Description

A bar has stood on the corner of Waverly Place and West 10th Street since the mid-19th century. Named Julius’ in the 1930s when it attracted sports figures and celebrities, the venue began attracting gay men in the 1960s and earned its place in history for the historic 'sip-in'. Inside, the decor channels a fifties or sixties aesthetic, with walls covered in historical photos, glamour shots, and write-ups. Today, it remains a modest, working-class pub, offering a protective, unhurried space where patrons can comfortably hold a conversation or even write at the bar.
