Description

Juanita Ka’āhanui shapes her work around deeply specific lineages of survival: she is the 14th great-granddaughter of Aztec Emperor Moctezuma II, granddaughter of a California Indian Residential School survivor, and mother and wife to Kanaka ʻŌiwi. Her paintings channel ancestral fire and resilience, earning a Honolulu Museum of Art Award and appearing on screen across CBS’s Hawaii Five-0, Magnum P.I., and Netflix’s UNTAMED Season 2.
