Description

Launched in Brooklyn in 1931, this retired vessel served New York City for decades, most notably pumping water for 80 hours following the September 11 attacks. Today, the operational museum ship lets passengers explore the decks. Cruises head down the river for close passes by the Statue of Liberty, where the crew fires the water cannons—meaning passengers might get a little wet. The trips are especially kid-friendly, allowing children in life vests to roam the boat, though securing the free tickets can be difficult.
