Description

Founded in 1913 by friends of John H. Vanderpoel as a memorial to the School of the Art Institute instructor—whom Georgia O’Keeffe praised as "one of the few real teachers I have known"—this South Side gallery showcases an eclectic mix of historic artwork in an intimate setting. The display features pieces from the 1893 Columbian Exposition alongside notable works by Grant Wood, Maxfield Parrish, Frank W. Benson, Ernest Hennings, and Vanderpoel himself.
