Description

Set between the Japan Center malls, the plaza functions as the central public square for San Francisco’s Japantown—the largest and oldest of only three remaining Japantowns in the States. Its focal structure, the Peace Pagoda, was designed by architect Yoshiro Taniguchi and presented as a gift from Osaka in 1968. Along with serving as a scenic venue for cultural festivals and community events, the plaza provides an open everyday spot for quiet reflection.
