Framed by a Moon Gate, this peaceful retreat blends traditional tea, courtyard, and hill-and-pond garden styles.
Description

Rooted in a 1960s plot once tended by the Atlanta Bonsai Society, the site was restored in 1980 with stone walls, fences, and a pond that replaced its earlier white-sand pools.
Ritual elements shape the grounds, including a chozubachi stone basin for tea ceremony purification and a quiet waiting bench. The palette is intentionally restrained: nearly all plantings are green year-round, interrupted only by spring azaleas, irises, and autumnal maples. Dwarf conifers, weeping persimmons, and a tall Virginia pine share the canopy, complemented outside the entrance by a collection of rare harp-string Nandina.
