Description

Between the Catskill and Shawangunk ranges, the retreat stretches across 220 pastoral acres. Guests often praise the cabins integrated into the surrounding hillsides and the fantastic restaurant, where the house burger and breakfast sandwich earn specific shout-outs. Fire pits overlook the Hudson Valley (brilliant at dusk), and walking trails, a tennis court, and an on-property garden round out the grounds. The ambiance leans deliberately rugged: one regular calls it "not a perfectly manicured over the top city-style hotel feel," and that freedom is part of the draw. Feedback cuts both ways on the rooms — some find them spare to the point of medieval and note maintenance issues like a loose door knob — while the spa divides opinion (weird design, but the massage was terrific). A strong fit for couples with young children and dogs, who can expect a warm welcome.
