🎬 The Premiere

🔪 From Festival Short to Feature

Stuart Cinema and Cafe on Northern Boulevard in Queens hosts the premiere of a new indie horror feature from director Nick Noyes on Saturday, October 17, with doors at 7 PM. The night is a special event of the fifth annual NYC Halloween Film Festival. The cast and crew behind the film once screened a short at that same festival and came back with a full feature, which turns the evening into a small homecoming for local genre filmmaking.

🎟️ Seats and Tickets

Eventbrite lists tickets at 33.85 dollars, and all sales are final with no refunds. Seating is first come, first served, which makes the 7 PM door time worth keeping. The festival site lists a 7:30 PM start while Eventbrite shows 7:15 PM, and the ticket confirmation is the one to trust. A live Q&A with the cast and crew follows the film, and Eventbrite adds a mingle session in the cinema cafe from 9 to 10 PM. This is an 18 and over event, and ID is required.

🍸 After the Credits

From 36th Street, the R train runs one stop west to Queens Plaza, and Dutch Kills sits a short walk from the station on Jackson Avenue in Long Island City. Walking the whole way from the cinema takes roughly 20 minutes. The bar stays open until 3 AM on Saturdays, leaving room to stay for the mingle session first and still talk through the film over a stirred drink. The screening admits guests 18 and over, while cocktail bars like this one generally expect guests to be 21 with ID. Upstairs, Debbie's opens on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 PM. Pizza Veloce, about a six minute walk from the cinema, is the closer pick for a plain pizza dinner.
