Formed in Yonkers in 1986 as Rigor Mortis, Immolation has navigated decades in the underground, surviving the mid-1990s commercial collapse of death metal without compromising their sound. The band's core duo of Robert Vigna and Ross Dolan brings the intricate guitar acrobatics and rhythmic growls that defined landmark albums like Dawn of Possession. Joining them for this Saint Vitus presentation—which has added a second night—is Massachusetts-based Ancient Death, a cosmic metal outfit playing technical, atmospheric metal from their debut album, Ego Dissolution.
