🧾 Three steps to get in

Step one, find a participating museum. Museums for All lists more than 1,600 across all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and most museums name their own rate on their website.
Step two, bring the SNAP EBT card and a photo ID.
Step three, pay at the ticket desk. The rate runs from free to five dollars per person, for up to four people on one card, with nothing to register or print in advance.

🪪 The card proves eligibility. It does not pay.

The EBT card is identification only, showing that the household qualifies. Nothing is charged to it; admission is paid in cash or with a bank card at the desk. Some states print their own name on the card, such as Link in Illinois, and the desk is looking for the SNAP EBT card itself rather than another benefit card. There is no application, no online account, no income paperwork and no residency rule. A card from one state works in every other state, and a household can return as often as it likes.

🆓 Where it is free instead of $5

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County admits EBT cardholders free, up to two adults and four children with ID, and issues the ticket at the museum desk rather than online. Poster House in Chelsea is free for up to four people on a SNAP or EBT card. Add-on exhibitions, films and parking stay at full price at both, and children under two enter free at many museums regardless.

💵 Where the number is $3

The Field Museum in Chicago charges $3 per person for up to six people on a valid EBT or WIC card from any state, at the museum only and not online. The Chicago History Museum also charges $3, and caps the rate at four adults per EBT card. The Health Museum in Houston charges $3 for a family of four, and the International Center of Photography in New York charges $3 instead of the $18 adult rate.

👨‍👩‍👧 Four people on one card, sometimes more

The program standard is one SNAP EBT card for up to four people. Individual museums can go further or count differently. The Field Museum takes six. The Chicago History Museum limits the rate to four adults per card. The Natural History Museum in Los Angeles names two adults and four children. Ask for the number before a group splits up at the desk, because one adult too many is charged full price.

⚠️ What the discount leaves out

Special exhibitions, 3D films, butterfly pavilions, parking and museum shops are priced separately. Children young enough to enter free make the EBT rate redundant, and resident free days and library passes are separate offers rather than extra discounts. WIC is accepted at many museums and refused at others, because the program's written rules cover SNAP only. If a rate is refused, ask for a manager.
