Hunt Orlando's Escaped Ghosts From Lake Eola's Red Pagoda

A phone-guided ghost puzzle game through downtown Orlando, played at your own pace from Lake Eola and back.

This ghost hunt runs on your phone. The story makes you the Gatekeeper between the living and the dead, the gate has been left open, and the escaped souls are loose in downtown Orlando. Each stop gives you a puzzle in the Questo app, and solving it unlocks the next part of the story and the directions onward. No guide walks with you: the story, the clues and the map all live in the app. Everything on screen is written English.

Booking gets you a code. It is the digits after BR- in your booking reference: enter it with your email on Questo's unlock page, then sign in to the Questo app with that same email, and the quest appears under Quests. Download the story and the map before you set out, and the game then runs without internet. Questo also asks you to start with at least half a battery. One phone carries a team of up to three. The listing is priced per person, and the rate per head drops once two or more travelers book together.

A Courthouse, a Hotel and a Haunted Corner

The route leaves Lake Eola for the downtown grid and loops back to the park. The booking page lists stops at the Muse of Discovery statue, the restored 1927 county courthouse that now houses the Orange County Regional History Center, Wall Street Plaza, the Angebilt Hotel, and the Kress, Rogers and Elijah Hand buildings, plus two restaurants on Church Street. The listing's teasers set the tone: a killer's ghost said to roam a courthouse, the corner it calls Orlando's most haunted, said to sit on a Seminole burial ground, and puzzles that include decoding leet-speak at a funeral home. The listing itself bills the storyline as dark comedy wrapped around local ghost stories and dark history. Admission to the History Center is not part of the booking.

Start and Finish Are Both Inside Lake Eola Park

The game starts at the red pagoda on Lake Eola's north shore, which the city calls the Ting. Nelson Ying donated it to Orlando; it was built in Shanghai, taken apart, shipped over and reassembled in the park. The game ends at a stone marker to Orlando Reeves, the man the plaque says the city was named for; the listing calls him a soldier who may never have existed. Both ends sit inside Lake Eola Park, which the city lists as open from 6:00 AM to 11:59 PM, while the app itself opens at any hour. For an evening round, the city runs a six-minute light show on the lake's fountain at approximately 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM, later in summer.

Two Restaurants on the Stop List Have Moved On

Two stops on the booking page are named for restaurants that are no longer at those Church Street addresses. Ceviche at Church Street Station closed in 2020, and Hamburger Mary's left Church Street in June 2024 and now operates in Kissimmee. On the day, follow the app's map and clues; the booking page's stop list has not caught up with the street. The most recent review on the listing, from March 2025, called the game outdated, said the navigation kept slipping, and that group did not finish. A 2024 reviewer warned against playing at night, said foliage hid some details, and found the first stop missing key parts of its structure. A local player in 2023 enjoyed reading the plaques and seeing Orlando in a different way.

Who It Suits, and the Walk Involved

The listing pitches it to couples and teams of up to three on one phone, and solo play works too. It is a walk of about 3 km over 45 to 75 minutes, and each stop is yours to linger at. The booking page ticks stroller access and easy for all fitness levels, and Questo's own quest page says nothing about wheelchair or step-free access. Service animals are allowed, per the listing.

📍 Start at the red pagoda on the north shore of Lake Eola Park; Questo gives the address as 566 E Robinson St, Orlando. The game finishes at the Orlando Reeves marker in the same park.
