Hummus First, a Cupcake Last, and Georgetown's Back Streets Between
A guided lunch walk in Georgetown: pita and hummus, a D.C. half smoke, a seasonal taco, and a cupcake where the route ends.
Secret Food Tours leads this small-group walk through Georgetown with a local guide. You eat at each stop, hear the neighborhood's history between them, and cover about 1.3 miles by the operator's count.

The card below books the shared small-group walk. The same listing also sells a private version for your own party. Children two and under go free, and kids and teenagers pay slightly less than adults.
Washington's Hidden Gems Food Tour with 6+ Tasty DishesAbout three hours on foot in Georgetown, from Christ Church on O Street to Baked & Wired, with a tasting at each stop.www.viator.comBrick Blocks, a Canal and Blues Alley Between Bites

The operator starts the route on Wisconsin Avenue, which it calls the heart of Georgetown, then works through the brick residential blocks. Along the way you pass the house where Julia Child once lived, stroll by the C&O Canal, catch a glimpse of the Blues Alley jazz club and see the Old Stone House. As of the National Park Service's April 8, 2026 update, the Georgetown stretch of the canal is drained for lock and wall repairs expected to last through fall 2026, and parts of the towpath here run on detours. Julia Child's former home and Blues Alley are pass-bys, seen from the street. One traveler in July 2026 called it Julia Child's darling yellow house, which helps you spot it. The operator's FAQ asks for comfortable shoes and sunscreen, since the stops mix indoor and outdoor spots.
Five Tastes on the Published Menu

The operator publishes the menu as five items. First comes golden hummus with warm homemade pita, from a spot it credits to a Michelin-recognized chef and says often has a line down the block. A longtime butcher shop serves a handmade half smoke, which the operator calls a true D.C. classic. At the Georgetown waterfront comes a farm-to-table taco built on seasonal ingredients, and the walk closes with a seasonal cupcake, finishing outside Baked & Wired. The fifth item is the Secret Dish, a surprise bite the operator does not name in advance. The listing's title says six or more dishes, while the published menu names five, Secret Dish included. Travelers who listed what they ate between September 2025 and June 2026 count five stops: hummus and pita, the half smoke, pork soup dumplings, a vegetarian taco and the cupcake. One traveler in May 2026 asked the guide about the Secret Dish. The guide said the secret is that the restaurants and dishes are not announced ahead, and the operator's own tour page lists four to five stops. The operator adds that the menu can change with each kitchen's availability and the weather.
Families, Diets, Drinks and Access
Children are welcome, and two travelers in 2026 wrote about bringing teenagers who enjoyed it. On diet, the operator says many of its tours cannot accommodate certain restrictions and asks you to write to it before booking, and the listing also asks for dietary needs in advance. The half smoke is a sausage, while travelers in 2026 describe the taco as vegetarian. Drinks are not among the listing's inclusions. The operator's own page lists water as the included drink, but one traveler in February 2026 wrote that none was offered along the way, so carry your own, and the listing notes that 21 is the legal drinking age. Two travelers, in September 2025 and April 2026, write that some bites are eaten standing or on a park bench, and the second found a table at only two stops. The listing's own notes say the tour cannot take guests using wheelchairs or anyone needing special assistance. The same listing still carries a stroller-accessible tick, while the operator's FAQ says many of its tours are not wheelchair or stroller accessible and asks families to contact it before booking.
Start Times and the 24-Hour Rule
As of October 18, 2026, the booking calendar shows the small-group walk at 11:00 AM on almost every day, with a 2:00 PM start on some Saturdays and no small-group departures on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day or New Year's Day. The private version offers start times from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM and is priced per person: a party of one or two pays the steepest rate, and at ten to twelve people the private rate falls below the shared adult price. A full refund needs a cancellation at least 24 hours ahead, and nothing comes back inside that window. The listing lets the operator call off a departure for bad weather or too few travelers, while the operator's own FAQ says it never cancels for low numbers, even with only two people, and reserves the right to cancel in extreme weather. Gratuity is not included.
📍 Meet in front of Christ Church Georgetown, the red-brick church the operator calls the Red Church, at 3116 O St NW, at least 15 minutes before your start to check in. The guide carries an orange umbrella. The walk ends outside Baked & Wired at 1052 Thomas Jefferson St NW, so plan the rest of your afternoon from there. Thomas Jefferson Street carries on down to the Potomac, where Georgetown Waterfront Park makes a fine place to finish the cupcake.
