Houston Park Trails with Turtles in the Pond
Pause at a scenic dock, then unpack a picnic at a spacious green retreat on Washington Avenue.
🐢 A Pause at the Pond
Trade a packed afternoon for a slower stretch on Washington Avenue. Clay Family Eastern Glades brings a spacious green escape to Houston, with nature trails for an unhurried walk. The dock overlooks a pond populated with turtles and fish. Give that waterfront pause a little room in your day rather than rushing straight through.
Pack something to eat and settle into one of the quiet picnic areas. Clean grounds and restrooms keep a longer outing straightforward, while food trucks and snack options offer another way to take a break. There is room here for the walk to become the afternoon, with lunch tucked into the middle.
The park is open daily from 5 AM to 11 PM, leaving a wide window for your plans. Entry is free, and parking in the Eastern Glades and Fitness Center lots costs two dollars for three hours on a first come, first served basis. Free street parking is available along Memorial Loop Drive.
