Hot Chicken in East Nashville or Breakfast Tacos on 12South

A guided food walk in one of two neighborhoods: Southern classics in East Nashville or a breakfast-to-dessert morning on 12South.

Pick hot chicken or breakfast tacos in Nashville.

One booking holds two different food walks, and the neighborhood is a choice you make at checkout. East Nashville starts at Hunters Station on Main Street and leans on Southern classics. 12South starts in front of Ladybird Taco and runs from a breakfast taco to a sweet finish.

Both routes make five stops, and the listing caps a shared group at twelve travelers. The operator puts each walk at three to three and a half hours. The listing says three. Expect around thirty minutes of actual walking in East Nashville and around forty-five on 12South, with no steep hills or stairs on either, by the operator's account.

Secret Food Tours runs both routes. The booking covers the tastings at every stop, water and a local guide.

  • Not included: hotel pickup or drop-off, and gratuities
  • Children two and under go free
  • A private East Nashville departure is sold as a separate option on the same listing
  • Booking closes two hours before the start time

East Nashville Opens in a Former Garage on Main Street

The East Nashville walk meets at Hunters Station, 975 Main Street, a former automotive garage that now runs as a local food hall. The first plate is a double cheeseburger. From there the operator lists a Bee Bite, a Yemeni pastry filled with cream cheese and finished with honey, eaten at an "I Believe in Nashville" mural. A two-bone rib done Southern style follows, then Nashville hot chicken, then a crispy catfish taco in the Five Points food scene. A Secret Bite closes the route, and it stays a surprise until you get there.

The operator's FAQ puts the finish at 1004 Woodland Street. The listing gives 113 South 11th Street.

12South Opens on a Migas Breakfast Taco

The 12South walk meets in front of Ladybird Taco, 2229 10th Avenue South. The operator lists a single daily start at 10:00 AM, and that was the open slot on the booking calendar for the dates checked on October 10. The first plate is a migas breakfast taco, followed by a mini 100-layer donut on the way past Waverly Belmont Elementary. The middle of the walk passes Sevier Park and stops for photos at the Nash Angel wings and the original "I Believe in Nashville" mural. Smoked wings come next, then a hot pork taco with grits casserole, then a sweet Secret Dish.

Hot chicken and ribs sit on the East Nashville route, not this one, and a May traveler on 12South wrote that "something more Nashville" would have made it perfect. For the finish, go by the street address. The listing ends the 12South walk at 2608 12th Avenue South, while the operator's FAQ names a cookie shop at 2606 whose own site now lists only a Nashville Yards bakery.

Go by the Operator's Menu for Your Route

The booking listing's inclusions block swaps the two neighborhood menus. It puts the cheeseburger, rib and Bee Bite under 12South, and the breakfast taco and grits under East Nashville. The operator's own route pages are the cleaner guide, and both they and the listing say each menu can change with the stops' availability and the weather.

Water is the only drink in the booking. The operator's drinks upgrade, for guests 21 and over with valid ID, is not an option on this listing. For allergies or a vegetarian diet, the operator asks you to write before booking and warns that many of its tours cannot accommodate certain restrictions. Its US booking terms add that it cannot guarantee any food or drink is free of allergens. Traveler accounts go both ways on this point.

Read the Meeting Note the Evening Before

Check the evening-before email to confirm your meeting address before heading out. Two travelers this summer describe going to an old meeting spot after it had changed, and a third mentions a mix-up over where to meet. Travelers describe the meeting details arriving by email the evening before. At the start, look for the guide holding an orange umbrella and arrive 15 minutes early to check in.

The listing says the tour cannot accommodate wheelchairs or impairments that need special assistance. The same listing also says small children can ride in a stroller, while the operator says many of its tours are not stroller accessible and recommends contacting it before booking. The operator says children are welcome.

📍 East Nashville: Hunters Station, 975 Main Street. 12South: in front of Ladybird Taco, 2229 10th Avenue South.

Hunters Station gives its guests ninety minutes of free parking in the lot behind the building, entered from Finn Street. That is less time than the tour runs, and the lot's operator, Premium Parking, says cars parked or paid for improperly face penalty fees. Pay for the extra time in the lot, or use the street parking the food hall points to on Finn and 10th Streets. Cancel at least 24 hours before the start for a full refund under the booking's terms. Then arrive hungry. The operator says you will not need another meal afterward, and travelers on both routes describe leaving full.
