The Palm Court serves this tea from 11 AM to 4 PM, November 11 through January 12, in a room of ceiling-high palms and trellis detailing set under a stained-glass dome that recalls the 1907 original. For the season the hotel adds holiday décor and twinkling lights, and the Plaza Christmas Tree is lit on November 12. Each table gets seasonal pastries and savory bites with tea from a 25-variety Palais des Thés list. Santa is set to appear in The Palm Court this season, and Sarafina's Tappy Hour tap show plays the room on select dates.
📅 Booking and Cost
Tables open on OpenTable 60 days ahead of each date, or 90 days for hotel guests. The Plaza lists the tea from November 11, but as of October 23 the OpenTable holiday listing starts November 18, so call The Plaza at (212) 759-3000 for an earlier date. The menu is $165 per person, and the booking page adds 8.875 percent tax plus an 18 percent gratuity on the $165 price, about $209 per person in all. Seatings start between 11 and 11:30 AM, 1:15 and 1:45 PM, or 3:30 and 4 PM, and the listing skips Thanksgiving and December 24 and 25.
👗 Before You Go
Dress up a little, since The Palm Court may turn away shorts, athletic wear, ripped denim, casual hats, and sleeveless shirts or open-toed shoes on men. Gluten free, vegan and vegetarian menus need at least 72 hours of notice, and canceling within 72 hours costs $75 per person. The Plaza's tea FAQ lists an Eloise menu for children up to 12. After the 11 AM seating there is time for Central Park Zoo, which closes at 4:30 PM with last entry at 3:30 PM. After a later seating, walk south on Fifth Avenue toward Saks instead.
