A wooded North Portland cemetery where Oregon Trail pioneers, freed slaves, and early city founders rest side by side.
Description

About one mile south of the Columbia River, the grounds have served the area since 1857. Originally known as Love Cemetery, the land belonged to Captain Lewis Love, an early settler who lived on site while building a fortune rafting logs downriver to Portland. Today, the naturally wooded grounds operate as the city's only green burial provider, serving as a resting place for people across all class levels and ethnic groups.
