Hike Through a 1,500 Acre Park With Military Architecture
Wander through the Presidio, where open space and scenic overlooks sit within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
🥾 Trails Meet Military History
The Presidio of San Francisco gives your walk a choice of scenic hiking trails, historic military architecture, and sandy beaches at the Golden Gate. Start with the kind of outing you want, a hike through the grounds, a closer look at the buildings, or a stretch of shoreline. Leave some space between the stops rather than treating the whole park as one quick detour on a longer city itinerary.
The park spans 1,500 acres at the heart of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Open space, scenic overlooks, and outdoor venues give you several ways to spend time on the grounds. Entry to this public park is free.
Montgomery Street at Lincoln Boulevard anchors the location. The historic landmark site is run through a partnership between the Presidio Trust, the National Park Service, and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.
