Hear Santa Fe's History on the Plaza, Then Eat Tacos and Pizza
About an hour of history comes first, then beer or a cocktail in handmade pottery at Tumbleroot and a margarita at Coyote Cafe.
This walking tour starts on the Santa Fe Plaza as a history lesson and ends as lunch. The opening overview covers New Mexico and Santa Fe history, culture, architecture, food and churches, then the group walks on to three stops for food and drinks. The guide named in review after review is Jerard, who founded Vigilante Guides and whose family has lived in New Mexico for generations. Several reviewers say it is the thing to book on a first day in town, for the orientation up front and the restaurant tips that come with it.

Booking is through Viator, with instant confirmation and a mobile ticket. As of October 17, 2026, the price is USD 169 per person and covers lunch plus a drink at each stop; the guide's tip is not included.
Plaza Sip, Savor, & History Walking Tour in Santa FeA walking tour of three to three and a half hours from the Santa Fe Plaza, with short history stops and three food and drink stops.www.viator.comThe First Hour Is History, Starting on the Plaza

The tour opens with an overview of New Mexico and Santa Fe: the culture, the architecture, the food and the churches that make the city what it is. From the Plaza, the listing schedules short stops at the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, on how she helped put Santa Fe on the map for artists; at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, on the history of the church from the first one built to the current cathedral; and at the Lensic Performing Arts Center, on the story of the building. Each is listed at about five minutes, with no admission involved. The history comes before any food or drink, and one March 2025 reviewer advised, "do be prepared for a lecture up front."
Pottery Cups, a Margarita and Pizza at the Three Stops

At Tumbleroot Pottery Pub, the pour is a beer or a craft cocktail, served in handmade pottery. At Coyote Cafe, it is a Santa Fe margarita with a taco of your choice and handmade chips and salsa. The pizza stop pairs slices and a sauce the listing calls secret with beer, wine or a non-alcoholic drink, and the operator's site says non-alcoholic options are available at every stop. Portions get mixed reports: one September 2026 reviewer counted two small slices of pizza, a small margarita, one fish taco and a very small dessert and called the price steep, while others write that they left full.
When It Runs and Who Can Book
As of October 17, 2026, the booking calendar lists one start time, 10:30 AM, with open dates scattered through December 18. Plan on three to three and a half hours, with shared groups capped at 10 travelers, and only adults 21 and older can be booked. Guiding is offered in English or Spanish. Per the booking listing, the tour is wheelchair accessible with public transportation nearby; travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness, and it is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers or travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
The Guide's Tip Is Extra, and Refunds Close 24 Hours Out
The booking leaves out the guide's gratuity; the operator's site says gratuity at the restaurants is covered. For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the start time, and inside 24 hours the booking is not refundable. The listing also allows the tour to be called off for bad weather or too few travelers. An April 2026 reviewer's date was cancelled for low sign-ups, though a June 2024 reviewer's tour ran with just two guests. Bookings made on the operator's own site follow a 48-hour cancellation policy instead.
📍 Meet on the Santa Fe Plaza, across from the Plaza Cafe at 54 Lincoln Avenue. Come hungry: the booking covers lunch, and a drink comes at each stop.
