Description

As the working seat of Hawaii's government, the building departs from traditional enclosed capitols by letting sunlight and rain pass straight through its central courtyard. The architecture weaves in distinct aquatic motifs: the House of Representatives gathers in a bowl-shaped chamber reminiscent of an emerging sea urchin, while the perimeter is ringed by a reflecting pool representing the Pacific Ocean.
