attraction
A camp-themed Denver Zoo habitat home to resident grizzly Tundra and a pair of rescued leucistic raccoons.
Description

Designed to evoke hiking and camping in a state or national park, the habitat offers varied vantage points alongside practical guidance on coexisting with wildlife. Tundra’s enclosure accommodates climbing, digging, den-building, and swimming, using her background as an orphaned cub from Alaska to illustrate what draws grizzlies into human territory and how to discourage contact. Next door in the Backyard Habitat, orphaned raccoons Cashew and Pecan—both leucistic and unable to survive in the wild—roam among hammocks, climbing frames, and raccoon-sized Adirondack chairs.
