Half Wilson Trail

Beginning beside Gene's Trailhead, the trail tracks low toward the edge of Brownstone Basin, serving as a practical connector for Gene's Extended Loop or longer outings toward the lower Gray Cap area. The terrain remains largely straightforward for hiking and trail running, flanked by wide sightlines toward Kraft Mountain, the Calico Hills, Blue Diamond Hill, the Rainbow Mountains, and the Las Vegas Valley.

Rather than elevation or technical terrain, the main challenge is navigation. As an unmarked primitive route crisscrossed by branching informal paths, the tread can quickly become faint around washes and basin entries, making route-finding the primary task across the open desert.
