The production follows the story of Mana and his beloved Lani, tracing a life arc of birth, love, tragedy, and family. Grounded in the Hawaiian concept of hā, meaning breath, the performance weaves together music and dance traditions from Hawaii, Samoa, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, and Tonga.
