Greenwich Village Tavern Comfort Food With Late Pours
Weekend brunch, a short rib grilled cheese lunch, and bourbon pours fill this rustic room on Waverly Place.
🍽 Scratch Kitchen Notes
White Oak Tavern runs a scratch kitchen at 21 Waverly Place, led by Executive Chef Jorge Madriz and built around farm sourced comfort food. The rustic room takes its cue from Kentucky white oaks and the craft of the cooper, a fitting frame for a menu that gives traditional plates a contemporary spin. At lunch, the rich short rib grilled cheese is the popular order.
Craft beers and curated cocktails share the bar with bourbon, whiskey, and wine, and the crowd mixes NYU students with neighborhood locals around the bar and tables. The tavern also handles group dining and private events.
Doors open at noon on weekdays and 11 AM on weekends, closing at 1 AM Monday through Thursday, at 2 AM on Fridays, and at midnight on Saturday and Sunday. Weekend brunch fills the room fast, which makes a reservation worth locking in early.
