WPA stonework and shaded creek trails frame this Coppell preserve, home to an oak tree where Sam Houston once camped.
Description

Along Grapevine Creek, the 15.5-acre grounds are shaped by 1930s Works Progress Administration stonework, incorporating rock-lined channels, flumes, walls, and bridge abutments alongside paths under post oak trees. Decomposed granite trails wind through the shaded terrain, offering quiet space for picnicking, casual walks, and outdoor photography. The site's defining historical marker is the Sam Houston Treaty Oak, where Houston camped in 1843 while waiting to sign a Native American peace treaty.
