Description

Spanning three Columbia River islands north of Portland, the park centers on 1,760-acre Government Island alongside Lemon and McGuire Islands. Two docks and a floating tie-up anchor the north shore, opening onto 15 miles of river frontage. Camping is permitted below the vegetation line with no designated sites, supported by pit toilets and picnic tables with barbecue grills along the perimeter. While the interior is closed to the public to protect habitats around Jewett Lake, freshwater wetlands across the islands support turtles, salamanders, bats, birds, and salmon.
