Description

The waters of Old Place Creek meander from the forested Graniteville Swamp Woods to the Arthur Kill near the Goethals Bridge. While the borough has several lakes and ponds, this is the only spot on Staten Island where kayaking is permitted. It is a quiet destination for saltwater fishing and launching hand boats, though visitors need to plan around the water levels—changing tides can make the marsh shallow and muddy.
