Glover Archbold Park
4.6 (274)park
A lush stream valley in northwest DC, where a rugged 2.5-mile dirt trail winds through mature forest toward the canal.
Description

The 183-acre protected park runs from Van Ness Street NW down to Canal Road NW, concluding at the Foundry Branch Park trail where it connects to the C&O Canal towpath. It cuts through the urban grid rather than escaping it entirely: several major streets bisect the park, requiring street crossings between sections where roads terminate and dirt tracks resume. The route stays rugged and unpaved throughout, with cycling banned to keep the paths meant for foot traffic only.
