Ginkgo Organic Gardens
5.0 (15)park
A quiet Uptown community garden where volunteers grow heirloom produce entirely for local neighbors in need.
Description

Founded in 1994, this is one of Chicago’s oldest continually operating community gardens. The site operates as a dedicated pantry garden, utilizing sustainable agricultural practices and a network of hundreds of helpers to yield a half-ton of fresh produce annually. Partnerships with organizations including NeighborSpace, Chicago Cares, and GroceryLand channel the harvest to individuals facing poverty and illness, while the grounds remain appreciated for their beauty and relaxing feel.
