Ghost Stories Under Denver's Gold Dome and Outside Molly Brown's House

An hour on foot through Capitol Hill after dark with a lantern-carrying guide, starting on the east side of the Colorado State Capitol and telling every story from the sidewalk.

Denver Terrors, a US Ghost Adventures brand, runs this one-hour ghost walk through Capitol Hill. It leaves from the east side of the Colorado State Capitol at 7, 8 and 9 PM every night and covers about a mile, which the operator describes as a relaxed pace with frequent stops.

Every stop is seen from the sidewalk, and the walk does not go inside any building. That includes the Molly Brown House, a museum by day. The listing marks each stop as a pass-by, and the operator says it stays outside so it can fit in more places. One traveler wrote in 2021 that they had hoped to see inside the houses. Book it for the stories, told in front of the buildings they belong to.

The card below books the one-hour standard walk. Every traveler buys the same ticket, children included, and an adult has to make the booking. Booked through this listing, the walk refunds in full if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead; the operator treats sales on its own site as final.

Three Stops Both the Listing and the Operator Name

The listing names three stops: the Colorado State Capitol, the Acacia Apartments on East 14th Avenue and the Molly Brown House on Pennsylvania Street. The operator's own booking notes list the same three, plus the Dunning-Benedict House, as highlights the walk may include. The guide decides the order and any extras on the night.

The listing's itinerary also marks the Newhouse Hotel and the Grosvenor Arms. The operator's booking notes put those two in a separate, longer extended walk, so do not count on them in this hour.

The Capitol is where the night starts. The listing dates the building to 1894 and says its tales center on the basement and the hallways, which you hear about from the grounds outside.

Look for the Lantern at the Closing Era Statue

The listing describes the meeting point three ways: the Capitol's east entrance steps, the Native American statue on the Grant Street side, and the Capitol parking lot at 200 East Colfax Avenue. All three point to the east side of the building. The statue is The Closing Era, a hunter standing over a fallen bison, made for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.

The operator's booking notes add the detail that settles it: your guide wears a US Ghost Adventures T-shirt and carries a lantern. Both the listing and the operator ask you to arrive 15 minutes early.

A traveler wrote in 2021 that it would have helped to be told to meet at the statue in front of the Capitol. The current instructions name it, so go around to the Grant Street side. The grand steps facing Civic Center Park are on the opposite side of the building.

The Listing Says Wheelchair Accessible, the Operator Says Ask

The listing marks the walk as wheelchair accessible, with all areas and surfaces accessible. The same listing also says travelers need at least a moderate level of fitness and does not recommend the walk for anyone with a spinal injury or poor cardiovascular health. The operator's own FAQ says not all of its tours are wheelchair accessible and asks you to contact it to confirm before booking.

One traveler on crutches wrote in 2023 that the group had to climb a grass slope and step into the street where the sidewalk was too rough. That is one account, but it is specific. If you use a wheelchair, a walker or crutches, get the operator to confirm this route before you pay.

The listing allows service animals. The operator's booking notes go further and welcome dogs as long as they do not disrupt the stories.

Three Departures a Night, Rain or Shine

The listing's calendar has all three departures, 7, 8 and 9 PM, running every night into 2027. The operator holds tours rain or shine and says it will contact you if it has to cancel one, and the listing does not cancel for bad weather either.

As of October 21, 2026, the 8 PM walk on Halloween night was already sold out on the booking calendar, while 7 and 9 PM were still open. Book Halloween week early.

Groups can be big. The listing caps a shared departure at 35 people, the same number the operator's booking system uses, and travelers have written that a large group or passing traffic made the guide hard to hear. Stay close to the lantern.

Dinner is not included, and the operator does not allow drinking or smoking on the walk. Its own what-to-bring list covers water, comfortable shoes and clothes, and rain gear, and travelers have written about a chilly July evening and a very cold February one, so bring a layer. Tips are not included either; the operator says guides appreciate them and accepts cash or apps such as Venmo, Cash App and Apple Pay.
